Apply to First Round’s First Revenue Unconference
Here at First Round, we’re always tinkering with different ways to bring incredible people together, whether it’s in intimate guided dinners, annual summits, or carefully-constructed learning programs such as Co-Founder Forum and Fast Track. Time again and time again, we’ve seen the power of getting members of our community in the same room (or on a Zoom call these days) to share hard-won insights from big wins and honest reflections on missteps.
In the past few years we’ve experimented with a unique set of experiences called Unconferences, where we’ve brought together a curated group for peer-to-peer sessions to discuss select topics. This format empowers attendees to both share and learn by feeding off of each other in breakout discussions that are focused on extremely tactical content and lessons. This allows for multi-dimensional discussions among people with different points of view, rather than the one-to-many approach of a handful of individuals getting up on a stage to share a collection of slides and proof points. In short, unconferences allow us to tap into the wisdom of the many — and if the past few months have taught us anything, it’s that no one person has all the answers.
Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received from our previous in-person unconferences for CEOs, CTOs and recruiters and talent professionals, we’ve decided to pilot this approach virtually and bring this popular format to a different group: Revenue leaders, aka the sales, customer success, sales ops and partnerships execs that keep a startup’s customer pipeline robust and go-to-market efforts sharp.
We’re focusing on this group because in conversations with founders, we’re constantly hearing how customer acquisition is one of their biggest challenges right now. The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic uncertainty has affected startups in vastly different ways. While some have seen tailwinds and surges in demand, others are making drastic pivots or pursuing new markets. And regardless of industry, every sales, partnerships and customer success leader is now adjusting to closing deals and deepening customer relationships remotely, all while trying to sell to decision-makers with shrinking budgets.
The First Round Revenue Unconference is on Thursday, July 30 from 12–2pm PST. If this sounds like a conversation you need to be a part of, apply here to snag a spot.
This unconference will be conducted virtually, and we’re excited for the opportunity to open up attendance beyond the vicinity of First Round’s San Francisco office. We hope to build the strongest community of sales, partnerships, and customer success leaders out there, and we especially encourage Black and Latinx revenue leaders to apply.
By attending our first Revenue Unconference, you’ll get the chance to engage in peer-to-peer sessions with the cream of the crop of revenue leaders across different industries and growth stages, including leaders from companies like Asana, Notion, and Brex, among many others.
Here’s a sampling of tailored session topics you’ll be able to choose from:
- Forecasting churn and gross retention during COVID-19
- Organizational design in product-led sales motion
- Building APIs for scaled partnerships
- Goal setting during a period of adversity
